Mental Health support for Young People

West Essex Mind provides information and support to anyone who is affected by mental health problems in themselves or their family in West Essex. 

Our Mental Health Support Teams run regular online parent workshops too for Anxiety and Challenging Behaviour and these are aimed at the parents of primary age children. 

In addition, our Parent to Parent programme offers support to parents who feel isolated in their parenting through 1-1 buddy support, group parent pods and access to Supporting Teenagers Emotional Wellbeing and Early Years Parenting courses.

Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service 

Provide activities and support for children, young people and families living in West Essex. The focus of our service is making sure that all children and young people aged pre-birth to 19 years in Harlow have the best possible start in life. Children, young people, and their families can access a broad range of support in their community, school, family home or at our Family Hubs and Delivery Sites.

This can include:

  • Parenting Support
  • Support with Child development and School Readiness
  • Family Health
  • Emotional Wellbeing Support
  • Support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) up to the age of 25years)
  • Health and Wellbeing Support for School aged children 5yrs-19yrs

Together with Baby is a service designed to help parents understand better their baby’s emotional responses and communications as well as strengthen the relationship. Many parents find  they have not bonded with their baby in the way they hoped or difficult feelings regarding the experience of parenting have arisen which may feel confusing and uncomfortable. . Youth Vaping podcast for parents/carers and anyone working with young people

Essex Public Health are working in partnership with young people, parents, carers, schools and wider stakeholders to reduce current usage and prevent uptake of vaping amongst children and young people in Essex.   The Training Effect, The Children’s Society and Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service have worked together to produce a short 20 minute podcast on Youth Vaping in Essex discussing information on the potential drivers behind Youth Vaping, knowledge and awareness around vaping including potential health impacts for young people and how to have supportive conversations with young people.
